About Project Connect
"Our Plan" Neighborhood Planning Initiative

In December 2021, Project Connect launched the "Our Plan" Neighborhood Planning community-driven initiative to create neighborhood and adopt plans for the St. Louis Place, Hyde Park, Old North St. Louis, Columbus Square, Carr Square and JeffVanderLou neighborhoods in the City of St. Louis . The “Our Plan” process is an opportunity for residents and community stakeholders to identify neighborhood opportunities, strategize around neighborhood challenges, and ultimately create a plan for the future development of their neighborhood, with subsequent implementation of the plan. The Our Plan neighborhood planning process has been guided by the City of St. Louis Planning & Urban Design Agency’s neighborhood planning strategy and nine step phases for plan adoption.

The results expected at the completion of this planning process includes the adoption of neighborhood plans, zoning that reflect the evolving needs of the community, the influx of businesses, and the changing dynamics of the housing market. The result will be the standards for redevelopment plans and historic districts to further guide investment and development. The forward-thinking approach will not only facilitate the seamless integration of the NGA but also foster an environment conducive to continued growth and prosperity for the St. Louis Community and especially for the people who reside in these six neighborhoods.

Through Project Connect, SLDC is working to ensure disinvested areas don’t get left behind during future growth and development — and that residents, business owners and community stakeholders have their voice and vision heard during the planning and redevelopment process.
